She Wasn’t Supported—So She Became the Support: The Story Behind Milk+Honey

there was a new mama.
she didn’t take a breastfeeding class (no one told her to).
she didn’t have a lactation consultant (there were none outside of the hospital).
she wasn’t prepared for this journey (but she wanted to breastfeed so bad).
she had wounds on her nipples within 24 hours of giving birth.
she had bleeding nipples for 6 weeks, and she still has scars.
they told her the latch looked “normal” and handed her lanolin.
she knew this wasn’t normal.
her baby had jaundice, and she was told to feed formula from her pediatrician (she fought back and said no.)
she used a nipple shield for 6 weeks.
she was told she had “short nipples.”
she used 24mm flanges and hated how pumping felt.
she had postpartum anxiety.
she nursed every 2 hours on demand and wore her high sensory needs baby everywhere.
she was told it was CMPA and to cut out dairy.
she dreaded nights and cried with the sunset holding a baby who wouldn’t sleep alone. because “back is best” and co-sleeping is “criminal.”
so, she stopped fighting it, co-slept and snuggled her baby all night long.
she went back to work at 12 weeks, and her baby had bottles (because bottles are NOT our enemy.)
she had to pump every 3 hours at work.
she had a supply dip at 10 months and had no one to tell her it was normal.
she power pumped and ate the cookies (they don’t work friend.)
she nursed her baby for two years and nurtured her child with every fiber of her being.
So, in 2023 she opened Milk + Honey.
Just a reminder that we are all WARRIORS, but we aren’t meant to do this alone.
